Welcome to the official website of the Museum Albrecht’s Croft (No. 8) in Swołowo, which belongs to the Museum of the Middle Pomerania in Słupsk. You can find here some information on the project “Intensification of the tourism potential of the Pomeranian Checked-Houses-Land – restoration of Albrecht’s croft in Swołowo”, that is being realized by the workers of our Museum. We plan to open it officially in the middle of 2008.

In December 2005 the agreement about co-financing (with a participation of UE – the ZPORR programme) the reconstruction of 6 historical buildings, which form the croft No. 8 in Swołowo. The Museum’s conception of how to manage the complex of the buildings got an experts’ approval and was placed first (after the meeting of the Pomeranian Controlling Committee) among cultural and tourism projects planned for next few years in the Pomeranian Voivodship. Which means that - after many years of exertions and efforts - there is a chance for restoring the former splendor of the croft and for reconstructing the rich Pomeranian peasant’s croft from the beginning of XX century and also for creating the Centre of Pomeranian Culture Animation.

We will keep informing you about the most important stages of accomplishing the project, about our plans and ideas for this place.

Our website includes also some information about the Swołowo village, known as the Capitol of the Checked-Houses-Land but also as a European Village of Cultural Heritage. Historical buildings in the village have been quickly going to ruin for last few years and that’s the highest time to save them. We also publish information about the “Checked-Houses-Land” – extraordinary and charming area, that streches along the seashore between Darłowo and Łeba.
